Founding Families
The 2012 Honorees
Chad Pennington is a Knoxville native who turned NFL star. As he gained fame, he found a way to contribute to those in need by starting his 1st and 10 Foundation. For the past seven years during the holiday season, the Pennington Family and foundation staff have taken our youth on a shopping spree at Target and hosted a Christmas party in their honor at Zuma Fun Center, with unlimited game and ride tokens and pizza. This event not only helps CFT's youth realize that someone truly cares about them but also allows them to see a positive, compassionate role model in each of the Penningtons.
Bob Withers is a devoted friend to Child & Family Tennessee. His father, Kent C. Withers, helped found CFT's Family Crisis Center and Runaway Shelter in the late 1970s. Kent believed that, "joy comes from working hard with people you like and doing something significant that will benefit someone else." This is something that Bob continues to demonstrate in his daily life by continuing to support our organization and other nonprofits. He encourages others, especially his five children and 10 grandchildren, to be community oriented.
